One Thousand Question Marks in a random distribution

The idea of using random number generation as the controller for composition became the benchmark for a series of pieces beginning with this artwork, 1,000 question marks. The color, roll, pitch, yaw and x, y, z locations for each question mark was driven by random number generation. This piece was also mastered as stereo pairs, and won a first place Nicograph award in Japan in 1988. The stereo pairs were exhibited at Liberty Science Center in 1992 as part of a collection of random-object stereograms.
